How to make a connection between two computers without a router or switch

Connect both computers with Ethernet cable.

Go to control panel.

Click on network connections.

Right click on your cable connection (Local Area connection).

Click on properties.

Pick Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPV4).

Click on Properties.

Click on “Use the following IP address”.

IP address: normally click in mind is 192.168.1.1.

Sub net Mask is 255.255.255.0

Leave default gateway blank and hit OK.

Now make the same thing on the other computer but the ip address on the other machine should be different, like 192.168.1.2 or 1.3 or 1.4 etc.

You can test the connection with cmd:-

Click on start and type run hit enter.

Type CMD and type ping on cmd and try to ping the ip address. (IP address which you have assigned to the p.c)

For ex:-

Ping 192.168.1.2

You can ping the other computer as well, as I’m 192.168.1.2 then you have to ping the other computer ip 192.168.1.1.

If it say’s request time out, that means that you don’t have a connection with the other computer.
