some thing about Google Chrome….
Web Browser:-
It is a software application for retrieving, presenting and
traversing information resources on the World Wide Web. An information resource
is identified by a Uniform Resource
Identifier (URI) and may be a web page, image, video or other piece of
content. The primary purpose of web browser is to bring information resources
to the user (“retrieval”), allow them to view the information and then access
other information. The web browser starts working when the user inputs a Uniform
Resource Locator (URL), for ex https://www.relationshipdistance.blogspot.com/
into the web browser. The prefix of URL, the Uniform Resource Identifier or URI
determines how the URL will be interpreted. The most commonly used kind of URI
starts with http: and identifies a resource to be retrieved over the Hypertext
Transfer Protocol (HTTP). Many browsers also support a variety of other
prefixes, such as https: for HTTPS, ftp: for File Transfer Protocol, file: for
local files. Prefixes that the web browser cannot directly handle are often
handled off to another application entirely. For ex, mailto: URL’s are usually
passed to the user’s default e-mail application, and news: URL’s are passed to
the user’s default newsgroup reader.
Information resource may contain hyperlinks to other
information resources. Each link contains the URL of a resource to go to. When
a link is clicked, the browser navigates to the resource indicated by the
link’s target URL, and the process of bringing content to the user begins
again. The most recent major entrant to the browser market is Chrome,
first released in September 2008. Chrome's take-up has increased significantly
year on year, by doubling its usage share from 8% to 16% by August 2011. This
increase seems largely to be at the expense of Internet Explorer, whose share
has tended to decrease from month to month. In December
2011, Chrome overtook Internet Explorer 8 as the most widely used web browser but still
has lower usage that all versions of Internet Explorer combined. Although
browsers are primarily intended to use the World Wide Web, they can also be
used to access information provided by web servers in private networks or files in file
systems. The major web browsers are Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera,
and Safari.
There are some
questions to give you some idea about google chrome and what google has in
there bucketed….
According to Stat Counter,
what was the number one most popular Web browser worldwide at the end of June
2012?
Chrome
This one is a little
tricky. In July of 2012, Stat Counter, an analytics tools company that uses
page views to track browser usage, reported that in the previous month, Chrome had edged out Internet Explorer
by a narrow margin to become the world's most popular browser. The statistic
was run (and debated) by several tech and business news outlets. Analysts
caution, however, that this data was skewed by usage in some regions of Asia
and South America. In most countries, Chrome did not own the No. 1 spot in the
summer of 2012.
What's the name of
the technology that the Chrome browser uses to keep you safe from malware and
phishing?
Safe Browsing:-
Google has
leveraged its resources as the top Internet search engine to create Safe
Browsing, a technology that warns you before opening any site detected as
having malware or phishing attacks.
Google's primary
goal for Chrome was to optimize the browser for what activity?
Web applications:-
Chrome is designed to be, first and foremost, a portal for Web
applications, including Google's popular suite of apps like G mail and Google
calendar.
